What is the name of your state?ct

When my husband got divorced from his first wife years ago it was put into the divorce papers who would pay what outstanding credit cards. Both were joint on all the credit cards. They were split evenly and each had the responsibility of paying the debts. It has come to his attention recently that his ex wife did not pay her half of the credit cards. I know that each is responsible since they are both joint owners but can he take her to court to get her to pay for them. He has already paid the credit cards off so that the creditors would not bother him but since the divorce papers had said she was responsible can she be held in contempt of the divorce decree and he take her to small claims court ?..Any suggestions would be great on where to go with this.

Yes, he would have to take her to court and get a judgement against her for the debts that she should have paid. If the amount qualifies for small claims court, then he can do it in small claims court.
