What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?OH
I joined a website through a German payment company. Apparently, my username/pass was somehow compromised (I don't know how.) I recieved an e-mail from the webmaster of the site (which happens to be in Moldova, though I didn't know that upon joining) saying that there were 80+ logins using my password, and that they want me to reimburse them for 80+ membership fees. This totals around $2500, even though their logs show only about 1.5 GB of usage. They are now threatening me with criminal action in Moldovian courts. I did not share my password knowingly with anyone, but they say it is not likely that it was cracked by brute force. They want me to contact them within 5 days, and I don't know if I should. Should I be worried about their threats, even though I don't think I did anything? Thanks!

My response:

Let's see . . . hmmmmmmm.

You're in America, and presumably a citizen, but in America nonetheless, and some Web Site in a sit-com country called Moldovia want to take you to court in THEIR country?

Tell 'em, "Fat chance, you foreign piece of crap idiot!"

Tell them to look up the word "jurisdiction".

OK, thanks for the reply. Can they do anything to me in US courts, though? Should I bother to reply to them?
Thanks!
