What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Connecticut

I am 21, male. According to http://www.ageofconsent.com/ageofconsent.htm, the age of consent in CT is 16.
I want to know if there are any laws that would pose a risk to me in this situation- I meet a girl on the internet who is 16 and we go out and have sex.
There is no giving of alcohol, taking of photos, or crossing state lines.

I have found two laws that are mentioned often online, but as far as I understand them, they do not apply here.

There is a CT law S.B. 1312 Public Act No. 99-113 http://www.cga.state.ct.us/ps99/act/pa/pa113.htm
but that law says it only applies if she were under 16.

There are also people who talk about federal law title 18 USC 2251, but it appears to only refer to creating pornography? I am unable to understand it.

So, are there any laws that would be a risk to me? Please point out a specific law (a link would be appreciated as well). I will ignore any religious or moral opinions.

And finally, suppose the internet was never involved and I met her out in public, all within CT; would that mean that no Federal laws could apply? In that situation, are there any CT laws that would be a concern?

Thank you very much for your help.

While I am not able to point to specific CT law on the matter, all the states have laws against children being out of the control of their parents, or adults contributing to the delinquency of minors - like leading them off against their parents' will to have sex.

So, unless her parents don't care, you CAN find yourself in a world of trouble regardless of the age of consent.

But why consider traveling to have sex with a teenage girl? You really can't find an adult to impress?

Please be advised that the information on ageofconsent.com is not correct for all states. In any case, I'm not sure how much faith I'd give to a website whose purpose is to encourage teenage sex.

CdwJava: Thank you for the pointer. I will read the CT version of that law and related cases. Also, there is no travelling involved, I said "no crossing state lines" and I meant it.

cbg: I agree that it is wise, especially in legal matters, to be skeptical of anything from the internet or any unreliable source. In this case, the information mentioned there about CT, and CGS section 53-21 and Sec. 53a-71
http://www.cga.state.ct.us/2003/pub/Chap939.htm#Sec53-21.htm
http://www.cga.state.ct.us/2003/pub/Chap952.htm#Sec53a-71.htm
appears to be up to date and accurate. If you have information to the contrary about CT, or other Federal laws that might apply, please provide it. And, if your goal is to discourage people, I would think that telling that website to correct their mistakes would benefit your cause- of course that is your choice.
However, I thank you for encouraging me to double-check the laws, and in the course of doing so I found mention that violating section 53a-186 (public indecency) with a minor could cause one to have to be registered as a sex offender. So, anyone reading this should be aware of that risk- i.e. a car or any other public place is NOT a safe place for sexual activity if you are involved with a minor.
Generally, anyone facing this issue should read all of the laws mentioned in section 54-250.
http://www.cga.state.ct.us/2003/pub/Chap969.htm

Thanks again for trying to help. If anyone has any further ideas, please try to reference specific laws if you can. Without a specific law, it is difficult to find information about potential penalties, or the details of what circumstances it might apply in.

In reading your posts, it would appear that you have at least an average intelligence and education.
So, if that is correct, why do you feel compelled to search out children for your sexual 'appetite'. Unless you are socially inept or flat ugly, I would think that you could at least 'troll around' in your own 'pool', wouldn't you???
