What is the name of your state? California

In June 2003, I pled guilty to a felony grand theft charge. I pled because I was overwhelmed with the process and scared that I would lose the case and go to jail. I didn't steal the money I was accused of, but that is moot now.

I never went to jail, and I am on 3 yrs probation, which was dropped to informal probation after 1 yr by the probation department. I was told by the prosecutor that after I have paid restitution that I can have the charge dropped to a misdemeanor and that after my probation is over, I can have it exspunged.

I am now taking classes to become a teacher and I was wondering, can I still become credentialed with a moral turpitude charge hanging over my head? I called the credentialling people and they told me that I could, but I have read information to the contrary.

Thanks for your advice!!
