What is the name of your state?Florida I have taken out a internet payday loan for $225.Since the the money was loaned, I have paid them $398. There was a last payment of $125 left on my account that was returned due to a banking error, which I have a letter stating. They contacted me and I agreed to pay it on a certain date. Since then, they tried taken out on a different date and it was returned once again. I left several messages with no returned phone calls. The next thing I know, I get a call at work telling me I had until 11am today to pay $536.94 or they would send someone to arrest me. Can they do this or is it just a collection agency thrying to get there money? I appreciate any legal advice you can give.

No. At the very least, they would have to be able to PROVE to the police and prosecutor that your actions were somehow illegal (fraud, forgery, etc.) and the police would have to investigate first. Simply, arresting someone doesn't happen that fast.

More than likely. If you are really concerned about this, contact them and ask what CRIME they are claiming you committed. Writing an NSF check is a crime, but there is a long process of notice, etc. that would have to be completed first.
