What is the name of your state?[Michigan. I was charged with marijuana possession. I have been going back to court again and again for one thing or another. The situation is that a new penalty has been approved for this violation since I was charged. Is it legal to impose a new penalty for a violation committed before the penalty was in effectif I am found guilty?

I suppose it depends on whether the law says it takes effect from the day of the offense or from the day of the conviction.

If you're going to court, I presume you have an attorney. Ask him about it.
