Gating an easement

What is the name of your state? California
I have property through which two neighbors have easements. I have installed a gate on the property and have provided keys to the neighbors. The neighbors refuse to close the gate and it is only locked when I do so. Neighbors are threatening to take me to court to stop me from locking the gate. Do they have any legal standing when refusing to lock [or even close] the gate?

Do you think that maybe it would depend on the exact language of your easement?

Well maybe. Does an easement have an exact language and if so would it be Klingon ebonics?
