I live with my girlfriend in a home That I built (I acted as general contractor and did much of the actual work on the house). I actually financed the whole construction cost of the home, but both of us were on the lot loan. After completion of building the home, we refinanced the lot loan into a 15 yr mortage with both of our names on title as "joint tenants in common". Now she wants out of the relationship, and is demanding one half of the value of the home. What am I entitled to???? Can I be reimbursed for the time/work that I spent in building the home??? any advice is apprciated.
