Sorry if this questions is a bit off topic, but I couldn't find an appropriate forum.
It's not really practicing medicine, but more like performing a medical exam.
A young physician is considering buying a medical practice from an old physician in NJ. The young guy has a NY medical license, and is waiting for the NJ medical license to come in. In the mean time, the young guy is helping the old guy out. The young guy performed a few bimanual pelvic exams. Is it legal to perform a bimanual pelvic exam without a license? What kind of trouble is he in? Does he need to get a lawyer? Will he lose his medical license in NY or NJ? Will there be jail time? The yonug guy has not received any payments for his services.

The young physician should know the laws pertaining to the practice of medicine and should abide by the laws if he intends to avoid serving time in prison for gross violation of practicing medicine without a license and, or sexual assault/battery.

NY allows a physician licensed in a bordering state to practice medicine in NY without a NY license if the location of the practice is on or in close proximity to the border with NY.

Payment for performing a physician examination under the guise of being a licensed MD is not relevant.
