While driving from California to Montana, in a rented car, a friend was busted with meth. The charge is possesion of a dangerous drug - Felony. Is meth always a felony or does it depend on how much she had? Also, since she is from out of state will she get a more severe sentence and what is the typical sentence for this offense?

Meth is always a felony, no matter how much was found. Residue is all they need to find and can charge you with a felony. I do not know that they can be harder on you because you are out of state but the fine in Idaho is $10,000 and 5 years in prison for residue. Good luck. She will need it and then some.
