 What is the name of your state? My husband got a ticket for driving 33MPH in a 20 MPH school zone in Port Angeles Washington.
We don't live in the USA so we are writing our response to the ticket to the local port Angeles court.
In the statement of the officer who issued the ticket, he wrote a chain of events which is different from what happened:
he said he timed our speed while stationary, whereas we remember him following us for at least a minute before pulling us over. Also, he said he followed us after the ticket, and we (3 people in the car) remember he stayed with his car and didn't follow us.

On the other hand, the reason we inteneded to write to the court, for speeding, was that there were no children out, and so it seems that the school zone sign should not be applicable.

What do you suggest we write? Can we write both arguements, even if the second would be shooting ourselves in the foot after our 1st argument?

Please Advise as quick as you can Thnak you!!!

He probably timed you and is also probably very aware what times the signs are effective. Port Angeles Washington has a bit of a reputation for generating revenue from traffic tickets from non-locals (tourists) so the system is biased accordingly.
