I have a question. I have just resently been terminated as a substitute teacher in a school district that I have worked five yeard for. The incident was that they had called me for an assignment as one of the schools and I was given a job number(this school district gives job number for every upcoming opening for every substitute job). I was sceduled to work a full day at this particular teachers room. When I got there at the school, they switched me and someone else was working in this teacher room that I was scheduled to work in. I was escorted accross the hall and introdued to another different teacher where I was asked to grade assessment test. The original assignment was not for this and not for this teacher. There was no student interaction and when they called me for the job they did not state to me that this was a float position or that I would be assessing test. During the time for lunch, the students were told to line up by the teacher, and the students and the teacher left the room. (The teacher did not coem to the table to let me know they were going to lunch. I followed the class and asked the teacher. Where are they going? She then informed me it was lunch time, and what time I should be back? I then went to the office to let the secretary know that I would not be back this afternoon after lunch becuase I was not needed, and to intial the sub sheet.

The actual teacher I was originally suppose to sub for appeared and said she needed me this afternoon as a standby. Yet, that was not my original assignment. With all of this switching, I decided I was not needed, and therefore, I left. The HR Substitute organizer terminated me stating I left a class uncovered. The original assignment was for me to substitute for a teacher that was not going to be there. I felt like they had pulled a "bait and switch". I need to know what I can do ? I have been with this school district for over 5 years with no complaints on my record, yet she fired me without consulting the director of Human Resources, talking to me about the situation, and this will not only enable me to get further employment, but my lifelyhood is in jeopary. All advice will be appreciated in this pattern.

Thank you

WOW!! I sure hope you are NOT an English substitute, since your post had TEN spelling errors in it!!

I need to know what I can do ?
Based on your post, nothing. The FACT is... you made certain ASSUMPTIONS about your work... and they were NOT correct.

yet she fired me without consulting the director of Human Resources
From your own post... "With all of this switching, I decided I was not needed, and therefore, I left.". Did anyone in authority approve your leaving?? Did you let anyone in authority know that you were leaving??
