What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?California

I was hired by this CA company three months back as an engineer. The offer letter said I will be on probation for the first three months. After I started, they never gave me a defined and quantitative task. I was asked to explore technologies which could be used for future products. I was kept aside from the rest of the team who were busy releasing a final product. My boss changes mind fast. He first asked me to get familiar with X technology. After being brainwashed by one of my coworker, he asked me to go for Y technology. He does not listen to anybody, he decides and that is that. Anyway I was doing whatever I was asked to do. Sometime he asked me to present what I had been working on. Those presentation used to go well. Though my coworkers were fine with me, there was one coworker who had a grudge on me, don't know why. He is very political and used to bad mouth against me to my boss and specifically to my boss's boss. This boss's boss came out to be of the same category like the coworker and together they did a lot of damage against me. After three months, they terminated me saying a mountain of lies. They showed that I have inability in almost all applicable areas they evaluate for a worker. This was an unacceptable shock for me. Since I have always excelled in my studies and work, this was quite a news for me. I asked my boss on every point what exactly he points to when he writes these 'inabilities', he was irritated and was not willing to answer me. He was only repeatedly saying that I don't share information with others. I don't kbow what information I was hiding or what was there to share with others. I have always attended team meetings, gave presentations when asked to, wrote documents and sent them across to whoever needed, still I was not sharing! BTW, nobody else shared anything with me unless instructed. After spending time on some not so focused tasks, I asked my boss what I should work on, I asked whether I should continue what I was working on, he said 'certainly'. Next day he writes all framing lies against me.

I have worked with a number of big and small companies, some of them have been pretty bad with me, but nobody ever said anything about my ablility, capability or sincerity. I get great references from them. I always get appreciation for my work. This CA company not only got me jobless with wrongfull termination, they are so heinous that they are making arrangements so that I don't get a job any further. When they interviewed me they checked 3/4 of my revious references. Now I have to present myself as a terminated worker with 'inabilities'. Can anybody tell me how to deal with this? All this trouble I am facing now aparently because, one of my coworker wanted to venture against me, for some of them , it is a part of their life. Though law does not protect the employee here in USA, is there anything I can do to nullify the wrong accusition I am framed with?
Please help me.

This was not a wrongful (illegal) termination. The law does not require your employer to have a good reason to fire you, or a reason you agree with, or any reason at all for that matter.

they are making arrangements so that I don't get a job any further. If you'd care to elaborate on what you mean by this and what the employer is doing, that might give rise to a cause of action (but it still wouldn't make it a wrongful termination.)

Re

Since, it is obvious that this company is self collecting myriad of false and framing accusations against me, there is a purpose behind that. Otherwise they could have just terminated me, in line with 'at will' agreement. When they hired me they checked 3/4 references of mine, every company does that these days. My scope in the job market is very limited and also surely I will have to clarify to my future employer why I was there in this company for just three months and what happened which won't be very pleasant for them...

What has this got to do with anything? YOu were not Illegally terminated. If your boss came up to you and told you that you're ugly and he's firing you for it then there is nothing illegal about it. If your boss came up to you and told you that you sucked at your job then there is nothing illegal about it.

And if your boss came up to you and told you that 15 people had told him you were a thief and were selling kiddie porn on your break and fired you for it, there is nothing illegal about it.

Belize--Okay so maybe you are right, nothing he can do about it, right? Well if that is so, at least show a little compassion for the person. Obviously, it is a traumatic experience when anyone runs across employers that are ethically challanged to put it mildly.

My advice is be honest with future employers and look forward to the day when they (this horrible employer) are not needed on your resume anymore. Do not ever give an employer more than they ask, as it becomes theirs without compensation. When hired for a position ask specifically what your function is. In this case you were obviouly mislead about your function. Do not sign anything within your evaluation period that may be used against you if you do not "make the grade". If your scope of expertise is narrow then the last thing you need is a former 3 month employer telling you you can no longer practice in that field for 1 or 2 years citing proprietary information concerns. Learn to recognize these types of employers right from the start and decline to work for them, sometimes you will not be able to please anybody just as a matter of fact. Good luck, and be on guard when it comes to these types of employers.

OH BROTHER!

Life isn't fair. And you don't get cookies with spilled milk.

Who cares if I hurt her/his feelings? This isn't Oprah.com. And the law doesn't give a damn if she runs off into the closet and bawls her eyes out.

And frankly, neither do I. A simple search on this forum for Wrongful Termination would have given this poster the answer she was looking for without having to come here and bore us for the 1,000th time in the last month.

Thanks for your frank opinion.
Looks like you are over reacting, is there any reason? do we know each other?
What makes you think I am a 'She'? What makes you think I am here for 1000th time? If my postings are too disturbing for you, just ignore them. I guess I have the right to use this forum and discuss with some others who are not so damn with unfair life

Just for clarification, Belieze is not saying that YOU have been here 1000 times before. He is saying that 1000 people have asked if they were wrongfully terminated before. The search function would have given you a great deal of information on the subject.

Yes, my point was (with a bit of sympathy) that you can do nothing in this case and the best thing one can do is chock one up for experience and move on all the wiser. Yes the real world is a not so nice a place and experiences like this one, and recently my own, are proof of that, but what we can learn from them will prove invaluable down the road. Everyone should be aloud to post their story, it helps the healing process. It should not matter if it was posted 1000 times before, when it come to this individual, the frustration, pain, and humiliation is all theirs. No one is forced to answer anything, although it is nice when they do. :)

I agree, that is good advice. Tell the truth, and make sure to give references that will back you up and make you look good to the employer. I went on an interview and told the interviewer the truth(I was fired - you can find my post here if you desire) and thought for sure I had no chance. She called my references and because they backed me up she was impressed and made me a job offer. Good luck.
