I am in U.S. since 1984. came here on student visa and after finishing the education stayed here without visa. My girl is from eastern europe and is either citizen or is a permanent resident (Green Card). My question is that if we get married, can I apply for my permanent residency from within the U.S. without leaving the U.S. or do I have to leave U.S. and stay out of U.S. for ten years(as a Law was passed last year that if you are in U.S. and out of status and you marry someone who is a citizen you have to leave U.S. for ten years and then comeback).
to get your residency here.
Thanks....
