I'm a UK citizen in the US on an L1-A visa. I previously held a B1 and have been in the country for 2 years, 2 months. My company now want to transfer me back, but I feel at home here now and don't want to go. Is there anything I can do to stay independently of my company? It is not possible to stay with the company here as the office is being closed. Another colleague is in exactly the same position. We will look for new jobs, but need to know what a prospective employer has to do for us, and if we can stay and job hunt once the office has closed.
