I have a friend who has applied for US citizenship sometime last year and has now decided to get divorced. Since the application is in process, will the divorce have an affect on the citizenship or vise versa? They are both Canadians with a US born child living in Texas.

If her status as an immigrant is not based on her marriage or her husbands status then there will be no consequence. However if her current status is based on her marriage, in some cases that could affect her citiizenship application. If she is already a permanent resident then I don't think she would have a problem.
