Was working on H1 got Laid off

I was working on H1 visa but my employer got into financial problem and laid me off. Now can any body tell me how long I can stay in US and what options I have. I have hoping to get a new job pretty soon if I get a job will it be a H1 transfer or a new H1.

As long as your employer doens't cancel the visa, you are safe. You can request him to hold the visa till the transfer takes place.
