I'm hosting a website with a provider who claims 99.9% uptime. Many customers have been upset because of constant downtime, however. I've not attempted a chargeback for the year I paid for but others have.
Recently, this announcement was sent to customers via email:
We do not issue any refund including yearly payment. Chargebacks to Hosting-pp.com will cause your personal information be shared with several credit bureaus worldwide thereafter you will experience any difficulties to purchase goods online in future.
I read this to mean that anyone who attempts a chargeback will be reported to credit bureaus causing a black mark on their credit report. Is that legal? Isn't it my right to request a chargeback for services not rendered or for false advertising and misleading statements?
This seems like an intimidation tactic. I was going to ride out the year with this host but now I'm angry. Anyone know the law regarding chargebacks and this issue?
