im having surgery on my stomch to stop my acid reflux disease and repair a hernia. do i qualifiy for a medical discharge from the army?

You'll have to ask your doctor that question, but one would guess that if the repair is successful then you would be returned to duty. Also to aid your recovery be sure to follow doctors instructions, learn relaxation exercises and stop smoking if you do. You may require medication.
