What is the name of your state? MD

After I came back from the Christmas Vacation, I found that my car moved to a No Parking Anytime area and there were three parking tickets on the front windshield of the car. In fact, I parked the car in the other side of the sign "No Parking Anytime". I have no idea whether it was caused because there is a gentle slope and I did not use the hand brake. The first ticket was issued a week after I left. However, almost every day policemen pass by my car. I think that the police should have issued a ticket if I parked my car in the No Parking Anytime area.

When I asked a policeman about the tickets, he let me mail them to request a trial. Then I did so. Now I am wondering how I can fight these parking tickets and whether I will pay more.

BTW, I am a new driver.

I appreciate your advice.

Don't you just hate it when your car just takes off on its own and then parks itself in a no parking zone??? Those damn old funny jokes that cars play on their owners!!! :D

Wow!! You lost me on that one.... Are you complaining because EVERY police officer that passed didn't ticket you???

Now I am wondering how I can fight these parking tickets
On what basis???

and whether I will pay more.
Why would you pay more??

It was true. I did park the car on the other side of the sign "No Parking Anytime" because I thought that other cars would be parked behind my car and then be less likely to hit my new car. I was careful too much because I just got my license and bought a new car. Don't you think that it is a possibility because there is a gentle slope and I did not use the hand brake

No. I just wanted to say that my car was parked in the right area when I left.

On what basis???

I have no idea too.

I do no know whether I will pay court fee because I mailed them to the court.

Anyway, thank you for your reply.

Several days ago, I received a notice that said I had not paid another three parking tickets issued during my vacation too and I would pay $10 more each tickets. In fact, I did not receive the three tickets. Then I went to the police department and they sent these tickets to court too without my signature.

In the following days, I will go to court four times for six tickets. Could you please give me some advices about how to deal with such stuff? Thank you in advance!

Also until several days ago, I found a hub cap of my car was missing. Maybe it happened during my vacation too. I do not understand why it happended because I just bought the new car 2 months ago and I didn't have any accident or hit something.

BTW, I absolutely parked my car in the right place.

I got free to go for these six tickets. Good luck, everyone here!
Court costs are assessed even if you do not go to court.

Standard answer

Here are some hints on appearing in court:

Dress professionally in clean clothes.

Do not wear message shirts.

Don't chew gum, smoke, or eat.

Bathe and wash your hair.

Go to court beforehand some day before you actually have to go to watch how things go.

Speak politely and deferentially. If you argue or dispute something, do it professionally and without emotion.

Ask the court clerk who you talk to about a diversion (meaning you want to plead to a different, lesser charge), if applicable in your situation.

Here are five stories that criminal court judges hear the most (and I suggest you do not use them or variations of them):

1. I’ve been saved! (This is not religion specific; folks from all kinds of religious backgrounds use this one.)

2. My girlfriend/mother/sister/daughter is pregnant/sick/dying/dead/crippled and needs my help.

3. I’ve got a job in [name a state five hundred miles away].

4. This is the first time I ever did this.

5. You’ve got the wrong guy. (A variation of this one is the phantom defendant story: “It wasn’t me driving, it was a hitchhiker I picked up. He wrecked the car, drug me behind the wheel then took off.”)
