If I file a quit claim deed on the residence awarded to my ex in my divorce decree, can I still claim half the mortgage interest on my income tax?

You can clearly deduct interest for the period you owned the house. But after you give the quit claim deed, you've given up all your interest in the house. Why then would you be paying more interest? (If you made a bad deal and the divorce decree specifies that you will pay the mortgage even though you don't own it, who knows?)
