I am in the process of buying a piece of commercial property with the intention of creating a business to house within the building. Upstairs are two rental units currently leased for one year. Is it possible as a new owner of the building to override a lease so that I can live in one of the upstairs apartments? Or are the current leases binding? I live in Wisconsin.

I'm not from Wisconsin, but where I live a lease for a year is valid for a year. If there was a clause in it permitting cancellation upon change of ownership, that's a different story!
