The father and the boy's mother have been separated for over 10 years, although they never divorced. They both have lived with other partners since the separation. Yesterday his mom went to social security and made arrangements to receive the social security benefits in her name as the mother of the minor child. She lives 5-6 hours away and rarely even sees the boy. Can the social security checks not be made out to the minor child and direct deposited into his trust account (which has already been set up)?
