My husband and I are moving from Ohio to the west coast because of a new job we recieved. We signed a year lease on January 1st, and now realize it does not expire until January 31, 2000. Thing is, we're moving in November. It has been my experience in previous apartments that the penalty for early lease termination has been 1.5 mo. rent and loss of deposit. However, this landlord has stated that we must pay rent until the lease expires or the unit is re-rented and that sub-letting is not an option.

Is there truly no way to end a lease because you're moving 2000+ miles away because of employment? Thanks much!
