What is the name of your state? Oregon

My best friend has had epilepsy for 25 years. She has been unable to even drive for over 10 years by a judge' ruling, and hasnt been able to work for longer than that. Her husband, who is a Navy retiree, left her almost a year ago. She has been getting nowhere getting any sort of disability etc...now that her household income has dropped drastically, wouldnt she eligible for some assistance? She gets so confused because of her meds she has difficulty doing things like this. Thanks for any advice or ideas.

She needs a good divorce attorney. She needs temporary spousal support immediately.

If she has not been employed in ten years, more likely than not, she does not qualify for SSDI.

How old is your friend and has she has epilepsy since childhood or is it the result of a head injury? Where did she live as a child? Has she ever applied for disability?

My friend is 47, she has never applied for any sort of assistance before. Her epilepsy began when she was pregnant with her first child, no injury.

Her husband is still paying the bills for the house etc.....whatever is left from his paycheck, after he takes his living expenses, is what she has for groceries etc....she feels he is offering as much as he can.

I suggest she call her local Independent living center, they have trained people to assist her linking up with services. I have provided a number of other disability related services, she can also call social services, but most of all, she needs to get an attorneyand file for spousal support.

I believe the woman in question can file for disability benefits from her husband's SS account since they have been married for ten years or more. I don't believe she can obtain SS disability from her own account since she has not worked in the past ten years. She can go to the SS web site and complete the forms online and can read information pertaining to her situation.
The site is www.ssa.gov
