A 73 year old friend with a failing memory has been locked out of his mobilehome for default in space rent, and is facing foreclosure and the sale of his mobilehome as a result of his relying on his friend of ten years, who has substance abuse problems. At this point, based on the senior's excellent payment record, his creditors might be open to negotiations, although they are of the impression that his default in payments are as a result of his age and failing memory and that a pattern is developing. They are not aware that his problems are largely due to this fiduciary relationship with his friend. I believe that if his creditors knew this, they would sympathize with him. Bankruptcies have been filed and dismissed. His friend is more than willing to confess and seek help in order to resolve things. Can anything be done?

I suggest that the Tenant talk to the landlord and his creditors and try to work out a solution. Read the section on landlord/tenant laws at this website's homepage under the topic "real estate."
