This old porch

I reside in Michigan and own several
income properties. After a complaint
from tenants regarding the structural
integrity of a porch at one of the
properties the porch in question was
replaced right away to avoid any risk of
bodily harm or property damage. I will
freely admit that due to the urgency of
the situation and the fact that this
started on a friday no building permit
was secured. additionaly we have now
been notified that the property in
question is located in a historic
district.When the porch was rebulit it
was done in a manner that was in keeping
with the style and age of the property.
After reveiwing the land contract on the
property we found nothing in the
contract to indicate changes to the
property were subject historic
commission approval nor are there any
signs posted as you enter the district
to alert you to the fact that the area
is a historic district. Am I obligated
to comply with their demands? or should
I seek representation and try to fight
this? any help would be greatly
appreciated. W.J

I can't tell you what you should do, nor do I know what the cost of what they want you to do is. Also I am not from your town.
