What is the name of your state?New York
our son joined the Marines in the delayed entry program, when he was 17. He had a motor vehicle accident( he was hit by a car as a pedestrian) sustaining a rather significant injury to his leg, just before going to camp in August 2003. He was finally cleared by both our MD and the military ones at our local VA and was accepted into boot camp in November 2003.He sucessfully completed boot camp and school of infantry and is stationed in NC. His knee started to bother him and they found he has developed a problem that surgury would not correct and any amounts of physical therapy have been unsucessful to correct the situation. The doctor is recommending that he be discharged under honorable condition, which is somehow different than an honorable discharge and now they (GI bill people) say that only those with an honorable discharge can access the GI bill. Our son has been putting $100. a month into the GI bill program and they say he is not eligible for any sort of benefit and he will forfeit all the monies he has been putting away to get an education when he got out.Is there any recourcse?? Is there someone for us or him to talk to ?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
