I am on a student (F1) visa. I graduated in December, 2003 with a masters degree. My OPT expired on the 5th of February. I have a 60 day grace period, and so I have till the 5th of April. I plan to pursue a PhD (at another university), beginning Fall, 2005. My question is, do I need to receive my new I-20 before the 5th of April to maintain my legal status? And also, do I need to do anything after I receive the I-20 for the transition?
