What is the name of your state? Wisconsin

Last month, the apartment where we lived in for 2 years caught a fire. 30+ residents has to moved out. THe fire starts from the basement, do not know
how that starts yet. My bedroom was burned and all other things are soaked
and smoked. God bless me, I have a rental insurance. But the things is the lease broken at that time. we want the rest of that month' rental back from the landlord and also want the intereste of down payment from him. He told
me to ask my insurence company to talk to him? Is this reanable?

BTW: That fire cost us a lot of things, we are looking for jobs that time, and
had to postpone the schedule, and it make us almost 1 month bad sleeping time. How to deal this with the landlord?

THanks!

Your damage due from the landlord is the balance of the rent you did not use.

Ask him for it.
