First time marijuana possesion offense

What is the name of your state?California
I just wanted to know how Ca treats first time offenders of possesion and what my options were? How long is this charge going to stay on my record? Is there anything I can do to erase this misdimeanor from my record? Will having this misdimeanor on my record affect my ability to get a job with a big company? I messed up big time, please help.

I'm assuming you're over 18, and I believe that means this is permanently on your record. Typically, first time offenders will be given a chance for a diversion and end up getting off with simply a probation and drug classes. Your options? You may plead innocent, guilty, or, if the option is available to you, request the pretrial conference which will give you the chance at that diversion. Odds are a misdemeanor, as opposed to a felony, won't have too big of an impact in your getting a job.
