What is the name of your state? Michigan

My fiance and I are married now, but we werent at the end of 2004 although we have lived together for 2 1/2 years prior and he has completely supported me and my 3 children , whos father is in prison, so why cant he claim the EIC?

Because they are not related to him, nor were they placed by an agency. He can claim them as dependents, but he can't get EIC for them.

Does it matter that he had power of attorney of them?
That seems wrong that they call him dad, he supports them 110% as well as myself, that he cant claim them for an EIC....Hes cared for them more then their own father ever has..theres not something we can do? I guess this law just seems screwy..
