I live in NY now and it took NC 8 years to find me? I owed extra tax from 1995. I paid it already in 1998. I cant prove that. I decided to call and work something out with them. They want interest and penalties added up to over $400.00. The original bill is $188.00. It isnt my fault they didnt send me anything for 8 years, I thought they received my payment and it was over. I dont mind paying the $188.00 just to end it but they wont settle. Any recourse?
