What is the name of your state? New York

Last fall, after 5 years together, my boyfriend and I purchased a home. We are both in our late 40s and professionals. We both reside in the home along with each of our four teenage children (two apiece) from previous marriages. I pay 85% of mortgage each month plus heat and electric, he pays 15% of the mortgage, taxes and homeowners insurance. Recently, we were discussing the fire of a nearby residence that was reported in the paper. I suddenly thought to myself - who would collect if the house I share with my boyfriend burned down?
Please advise.

First, we need more info.
Second, it depends on the insurer.
Third, to be safe you should list the boyfriend on the policy until you are married - not because it is required, but because insurer's love to limit their liability to the "guest" whom they will likely claim has no real insurable interest.

We can all argue the merits of the insurer's[hypothetical] claim but it will not settle the claim any quicker.

And the REAL answer you were looking for....
If they suspect arson, no one will collect!!

Watch out you might get what you're after
Cool babies strange but not a stranger
I'm an ordinary guy
Burning down the house

Hold tight wait 'til the party's over
Hold tight we're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house

Here's your ticket pack your bag; time for jumpin' overboard
Transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, maybe you know where you are
Fightin' fire with fire

All wet hey you might need a raincoat
Shakedown dreams walking in broad daylight
Three hundred sixty five degrees
Burning down the house

It was once upon a place sometimes I listen to myself
Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work say baby what did you expect
Gonna burst into flame
Go ahead

My house S'out of the ordinary
That's right Don't want to hurt nobody
Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
Burning down the house

No visible means of support and you have not seen nothing yet
Everything's stuck together
I don't know what you expect staring into the TV set
Fighting fire with fire

Burning down the house
Burning down the house
Burning down the house
