What is the name of your state?va. am a cival service worker. have worked for the gov. for about 25 yrs. started out as a temp,career conditional and then prerm. looking into retirement and found out that the five years i was part time some taxes were not taking out. the gov. never let me know that i was suppose to pay this money back; so after 25 years of interest am betwenn a rock and a hard place. don't pay it back, loose my years. all 75-100 people in this situation don't remember the gov. ever telling us about this situation.can we fight this with the right lawyer?

Find a tax lawyer and ask. If this was 20 years ago, there might be statute of limitations issues.
