My husband's financial investments business was shut down by the SEC last September for fraud. I had no knowledge of what he was doing, but was listed as a "relief defendant". I have settled with the SEC, but it has left me with an ENORMOUS tax burden. Am I entitled to Innocent Spouse relief? My "husband" is currently incarcerated on an unrelated charge. He had a wreck in '03 and a woman died. He was given 6 years. Does all this fall on me since he obviously has no way to pay?

Consult a Tax Attorney. This is beyond the scope of either an Enrolled Agent or a CPA.

On its face, it sounds as though you are entitled to Innocent Spouse relief, but since a criminal matter is involved, you really need an Attorney.
