What is the name of your state? NORTH CAROLINA

We have two sons, both with mild autism. Both boys are high functioning (currently), but should we be interested in filing for Social Security disability benefits since they are only 7 and 5? Also, are those benefits based on household income?

Please contact your state department of developmental disabilities. Yes you want to qualify for social security disability. Make your application before children turn 18, SSI is income depentent. If they are HFA/ Autism spectrum also see if they might have Asperger's. Important to access services for your children.
