What is the name of your state? i'm in ohio
in january my ex and i had a court date for child support. i showed up he didnt when he got the papers for the support he filed an appeal we now go back to court in a few days. what happens if i cant get off work and dont attend

You HAVE to get off work to attend! You initated the proceedings and so it's imperative you attend the hearing. If you don't, it will be considered you don't care or have revoked your request, and whatever he files (in response) will be granted by defaut of you not showing up.
