What is the name of your state? GA

Hello,
I was divorced on 12/17/2003 (Over a year).
My son is now 17 years old.
Driving.
I had over $1000 car repairs done on a used Honda Accord.
Our Divorce decree says we are suppose to pay 1/2 of all expenses.
We have joint custody, with me being primary.
He payed me $200 and told me I would get the remainder when
the car was running a month(4/1/05) (he didn't like that I got the car
repaired instead of trashing it and getting another car). He put
it in my hands (as a mom) to get it fixed. I did. Had to get the Transmission
rebuilt, but much cheaper than buying a new car or another used one.
Now, the radiator is having problems and can be fixed but he refuses to give me his half of the previous repairs.
In lieu of child support since our son was already 16, we agreed (in the divorce) to share all expenses. I need his part of these expenses and trust me, he's giving me much greif over this.
Can I file contempt of court?
Would he have to pay court cost?
How do I do it?
Thank You!

First, does the divorce decree SPECIFY what expenses ?
Usually, expenses are considered to be "necessities" and school/sports, etc. expenses only. I don't know that a Judge would consider car repairs for a 17 yr. old to fall into those categories. You are better off trying to work it out with the ex without going to court. Does your son have a job? Is he responsible for paying for part of the repairs on his car? Does he rely on the car to get to his job? These are some of the questions that a Judge would ask.

it depends on the EXACT wording of your decree.... a car may be considered more luxury than strict necessity.

and shouldn't dad get some say in the decisions that are made?

honestly, from the sounds of the condition of the car, and what you have already out into it, finding another honda may have been/will be a BETTER financial decision. you have to know when a car is officially driven into the ground, so to speak....

and what sort of responsibility is your son taking for the luxury of a car?...
