What is the name of your state? oklahoma
my first husband died when my daughter was a month old and now i am married again and was wondering if i can add my husbands last name to her name without losing her social security benefits.

Yes, Social Security Survivor's benefits even survive an adoption. Therefore your husband could even adopt your child without losing the benefits.
