I am in Illinois.
I had a public defender appear with me at pre trial Feb 8, 2004. When I returned to court for the continued pre trial on March 29 a new public defender was there. He said the other P.D. had quit. The new P.D. quit shortly after that, and the judge ordered me to defend myself. I looked up the states Supreme Court Rules concerning lawyers withdrawing from a case. It appears neither lawyer or Judge has followed the rules, such as a written motion, notifying me etc..Do these rules for lawyers withdrawing apply to public defenders? If they do would the first public defender technically still be my lawyer?
Thanks
