All the zoning maps show the property as 1/2 R1 and 1/2 B3. The Mayor's brother wants to buy it and build a dollar general store on it. My neighbors and I contend that it is legal for the property under 1 deed to be split zoned and oppose rezoning of residential 1/2. We have been to the zoning board public hearing. The board is seeking legal advice. The zoning ordinance doesn't say anything about split/zoning. Don't know if other property in town might be split. Looking for examples of split zoning in nearby towns. Neighboring properties stand to lose considerable property value.
