I have made several references of late to an insured's, or prospective insured's, CLUE Report.

This report is a private insurance industry report, akin to your credit report, that rates your risk to an insurer. I have remarked that keeping the report clean is important as is the value of personal risk management and responsibility. Also that it is my experience that these reports[CLUE & A-PLUS] often contain only a smattering of the truth. See: https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?t=239095

In any case, below is a link that addresses all of these issues. Most interesting is the FCRA; Fair Credit Reporting Act. I had seen language in the Act regarding financial institutions and the transmission of information to other 3rd party affiliates but never connected the dots between the Act and CLUE/A-PLUS.

I believe this is at least as important as your credit rating. Although your credit report may limit your leverage, the CLUE/A-PLUS reports have a direct impact on your longterm financial health. Most don't know it and/or recognize the additional $$$ spent unnecessarily.

I'd suggest to the webmaster that this information, or a link to it, be included in one of the FAQs of this site.

Here is a useful read: http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs26-CLUE.htm
