What is the name of your state?I live in TX, purchasing a property in Ellis County. Property has a natural gas pipeline with a blanket easment. I am trying to change this to a defined easment prior to purchase. Any suggestions?

Speak to someone in the legal dept. of the utility about "defining" the easement they have, and replacing the blanket easement with a specific one. Many utilities placed blanket easerments back when because they didn't know where they planned to place the utility, and it was just easier for them to throw out a blanket.
