What is the name of your state?MA
We own a 40 foot right of way, our neighbors deed says for "ingress and egress by vehicles and otherwise". Does this also mean they have utility easement through this? Also, how long would the utilities have to be in place to be legally there with nothing we can do about it? Thanks!

????

"otherwise" seem pretty liberal, but whats you beef with utilities, would you want them run up the driveway? now if you talking overhead power lines different story, if would want them put underground in the driveway.

easements are very clear and have a purpose. the purpose of your easement is for ingress and regress. the otherwise part is for family, friends, etc. not for utilities. utilities must have a separate easement agreement.

The answer is no, an ingress/egress easement does NOT permit other uses.

The question to your other question depends on how long you've been there and why nothing was done about this before, and how long the utilities have been there.
