What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? CA

I have a friend whose father had passed away and had no will. The house he owned had been paid for and she is the one that has been living in it since he passed away. What is the appropriate way to get the house into her name and claim her as the owner?? There is other family but no one is asking for the house. The father has been deceased for approximately 4 years.
