What is the name of your state?New Jersey

There is a development being planned where the new road will end just before my backyard which would landlock my side yard and prevent me from doing the same (putting in a house or two). I was told there may be some law that could allow me to request the road to be extended to my property. Does anyone know if this is accurate and where to direct me to further research?

Thanks for any direction you can offer.

There probably is a state law in your state which does not allow landlocked properties to be created.

But your backyard will not be landlocked.

Access will be through the front of your property (which, I am assuming, is on a public road).

If you want to put houses in the back part of your property, then they will have to access from wherever your property now has access to a public road.

(You have to follow all zoning, etc. regulations, of course.)
