What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Washington

Yesterday I received a collection letter in the mail. I called the company and it is for a shoplifting ticket in 1993 (during my stupid time). The collection company received the file in 2000 and now here it is 2005, this is the first time they have contacted me although they have had all the correct information except for my last name and I've been in the same place for the last 10 years. Is there any statue of limitations on this kind of thing.
