Try to get rent for land

Can someone try and collect rent on property after the home has been there for 23 years. The home was inherited and was a relative of the person threating to try and get rent for the land now.

Simple answer..... yes, "someone can TRY and collect rent on property".
Long answer.....
If someone else owns the land AND if there was a lease on it AND if the rent was not paid, THEN the landlord can pursue collection of the unpaid rent back to the time of expiration of the SOL (Statute of Limitations) on the 'debt'.

So what you are saying is they own the house but not the land it is sitting on?
