Hi again! I tried all day to get onto the family law board and can't seem to get there! I read what you say mary told you. I'm glad it's not my computer, I even did the "go back" to try and get on!!!

Anyways, could you answer this question concerning Interest on child support? Please?

I over paid in Aug. 2000. Credit of $181.19. Sept amout due...$31.81. I paid $32.00. Oct. Amount due $212.81. paid that. Balance $0.00. I just got a "pay history" from DA and it says I owe $1.77 in interest. How can I owe interest if my account is current????

It states on the billing statements "ANY BALANCE IS SUBJECT TO 10% PER ANNUM." There is no balance on my case! Doesn't that mean ONLY when there is a balance owing that there is an interest charge? Do I owe the interest if my account is current??

What can I tell [case worker] to get her attention (if I do not need to pay). Can I take them to court for erroneous charges? and sending out false statements?

Please help!

Thank you,
Ukiah

My response:

Ukiah, sweetheart, lovy-bear. You know I care about you, and you know that I want nothing but the best for you. You do know that, right?

Who knows, it could be an accounting error on their part, or they could have received one of your previous payments late (blame the U.S. Mail). But . . . .

Sometimes, though, it just doesn't pay to fight "City Hall" and you want to spend $100.00 worth of your time and energy over $1.77?

Just slap a check in an envelope, put a stamp on it, and call it a day.
